Gumby & Pokey animator, Art Clokey passed away last Friday. Gumby evolved from a student project @ USC in the 1950’s called “Gumbasia.” Clokey did not see a financial return from his characters for 40 years because he was hesitant at first in not wanting to exploit children. RIP, Art.

Happy 2010.
In case you didn’t read about it on NYTimes.com, Esurance has selected D/C (Duncan Channon) as their creative agency of record. The win came after a selection process involving many agencies across the US. The assignment includes comprehensive strategic and creative work, from brand positioning to advertising. BTW: One of the sweetest gifts I received this past holiday season was an Erin doll from Esurance.
This past week-end, I saw the chilling documentary, COLLAPSE at the Lumiere Theatre. Author, Michael Ruppert does not mince words about the crisis of energy and money in a post peak oil world. He gave a Q & A afterwards. His PeakOil/Titanic analogy was there are 3 kinds of people:
1) deer caught in headlights
2) how do we build a lifeboat
3) you’re crazy, let’s go have a drink at the bar on the Titanic
The book has a 25 point program for action which includes collecting seeds because food production will be of utmost importance. Learn more at www.collapsemovie.com
The Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park is featuring a special exhibit that is chock full of ingenuity and holiday magic. It is a miniature version of San Francisco landmarks such as the Ferry Building Clock Tower comprised of a cheese grater, forks & salt shaker. Plus, Lombard Street, Castro Theater, Palace of Fine Arts, Coit Tower and more.

After 10 years, my good citizen/friend Josh Tickell-Alternative Fuel Expert has finally released his film. I was privy to see it last year & left feeling hopeful & empowered. It picks up where Gore’s film
“An Inconvenient Truth” left off. Activist & Filmmaker, Josh tells us how to wean ourselves OFF foreign oil. He is a true solutionary!

Looking back over the last 5 years, I think this was by far one of the funniest spots.
Nancy Wolfson of Braintrax Audio told me “Erin doesn’t look a day over four!”
